About Me

I grew up in the Holladay/Cottonwood area living across from what used to be the Cottonwood Mall on Highland Circle. I went to Hillview Elementary (no longer standing) and then Cottonwood Elementary. I also went to Olympus Junior High school in 7th and 8th grade.

I attended the brand new Bonneville Junior High in the 9th grade.

When I was 15 we moved to the East Millcreek, Mt. Olympus Cove area where I attended Skyline High School. I remember that we had to dodge the garbage cans that were set out in the halls of the school because the roof leaked.

I served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Uruguay-Paraguay mission.

I got my BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah.

I married my lovely wife, the former Kathie Ann Clegg in 1974. We have four wonderful daughters and 16 grandchildren. We moved to Murray when our oldest daughter April was one year old.

I served on the Murray School Board of Education for eight years. I also recently completed serving for six years on the Murray Library Board.

I work for Ivanti (formerly Landesk) in South Jordan as the STEM Outreach Coordinator. I retired as a Software Developer in December 2015 so that I could give more attention to my legislative duties. Getting kids to look into STEM careers is something I’m passionate about.
